fruit trees, grew ice flowers to cover bald dirt areas, led vines crawling
over walls...
Gardening used to be a fun to me then, as much as hiking to me now. After a
full day work in the back yard, sitting in a swing chair in the patio shade
, soaked in sweat, I was really high in mood with a glass of chilled Beck’s
.
Since I started hiking 3 years ago, I have been less and less a gardener.
Watching the backyard growing into a jungle, I just couldn’t pull myself
out to the backyard every week, especially after a challenging hike the day
before. I barely kept the minimal works to hold the yard in shape, the
gardener under my skin was struggling so hard, doesn’t want to give up
easily until the last straw falls.
Last Sunday, when I finally persuaded myself to mow the lawn, simply found
the lawn mower was broken. “That’s it!” I told myself, “That is the end
of my gardener career.”
This very morning, I had an appointment with a gardener to check up my yard
and make a deal. “$100 per month for 4 times trimming, deal!” I shook his
hand with a shade of sadness across my mind. Deep in mind, I guess, I still
want to be a gardener. |
