I've been wanting explore the mines for quite a while, now that we have a
quite warm winter this year, instead of climbing Baldy Bowl in dirt, it is
about time. Some of mines are easier to get into than others, but this will
be part 1 series of exploring mines around Los Angeles County, especially
mines on Iron Mountain.
12 miles, 3500-4000ft gain. The stats isn't that bad, but there will be cros
s-county and involved traversing of unmaintained trails. Also bring a spare
socks or water shoe since there will be several water crossings. Wear lo
ng sleeves and bring gloves because there is going to be brushy and lots of
it. Gloves are available at Home Depot for $2 a pair. Of course, bring
the usual hiking essentials, water, energy drink/bars...etc.
There won't be any dangers other than the usual and common risks involved
when hiking, but dont underestimate this hike. This hike is not for
beginners or for people that have never hiked before. If we have never hiked
together before, plase kindaly let me know your condition.
