Thank you for contacting me regarding the issues you care about. It is
people like you, who are well-informed and take the time to share your
opinions, who will help California fix our problems and become once again
the great state that we know it can be.
I read every piece of correspondence I receive – and I am personally
writing you back because I believe those who serve in government must be
responsive and accessible, particularly to thoughtful, engaged citizens like
you.
You wrote me expressing your concerns about SCA 5, a proposed constitutional
amendment which would repeal certain provisions of Proposition 209. I can
report to you that despite the Senate passing SCA 5, the State Assembly,
where I serve, decided to hold SCA 5 due to the need for further discussions
on several of the issues you raised. For these reasons, SCA 5 will not be
considered this legislative session. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts
