Cost Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support an accurate and on time monthly close and reporting cycle
, including preparation of all inventory related reconciliations.
• Prepare and enter cost and inventory-related journals entries,
including freight, inventory and reserve entries.
• Understand and apply GAAP accounting principles, procedures,
guidelines and business rules.
• Develop and maintain costing system including overhead pool
analysis between product lines.
• Responsible for budget vs. actual analysis for all of operations
departments’ expense analysis.
• Evaluate and recommend cost savings initiatives.
• Responsible for planning and forecasting process for operations
expenses, gross margins and COGS variances.
• Able to collect, organize, and analyze financial data; summarize
findings; develop conclusions and recommendations.
• Able to review and understand supplier indirect overhead rates,
cost pools and labor rate calculations.
• Support plant capacity and resource production planning through
analysis.
• Ensure compliance with cost accounting policies and procedures.
• Develop, maintain and review X3 reports for inventory module.
• Review and monitor inventory cycle counts and procedures.
• Perform annual standard cost reviews and updates.
• Work with sales and marketing teams to develop inventory sale
pricing.
• Personal Attributes and other Qualifications
Requirement:
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Supply Chain or Business
Management or related technical discipline.
• Ten (10) years of experience in procurement or price estimating
may be consider in lieu of a degree
• Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in a cost
accounting role in a manufacturing environment.
• Must have a manufacturing background in accounting.
• 7 to 10 years of cost accounting experience.
• Ability to demonstrate significant experience in setting up cost
accounting procedures and policies.
• Strong analytical background as it pertains to understanding and
explaining manufacturing variances as well as other types of analysis.
• Maintains attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive
tasks.
• Demonstrate a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while
meeting goals and deadlines.
• Hands-on style and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Sage X3 experience is highly preferred.
• Reporting directly to the Controller and partnering with the CFO.
• Manufacturing operations is in Denver Colorado so they'll be
frequently working with the finance team in the Denver, as well as the
Controller in Santa Barbara.
• Pay range is 75k to 100k for the Cost Accountant.
