I plan to buy a kayak from Academy. The savings will be enough to pay for a
tank
of gas for some trip with my kayak. I'll do paddle fishing once I feel
comfortable using the kayak.

On the other hand, any sport is associated with risks. One must be aware of
all the potential risks before committed to one.
At least kayaking will only make one in better shape and in greater health
due to the exercises and clean air on water. |

You are right. These are the places I can use to practice kayaking with. I
also plan to go into Lake Pontchartrain, paddling along the shoreline to
practice.
I fish mostly in the Grand Isle area along Hwy 1 as well as in the Grand
Isle State Park. Winter will be a better time to fish from the bank. It is
too hot now to fish down there. On the other hand, if you like crabs, now is
the best time to catch them on beaches.
