The Laboratory for Micro-Nano Scale Bio-manipulation, Imaging and Sensing at
Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, an Ivy League
institution, warmly invites applications for one Research Associate position
. We are looking for rising scholars with great research potential who are
desirous of independent academic or industrial R&D careers.
Our mission is to create knowledge, new concepts, and innovative
technologies at the interfaces of life science and engineering, and to
advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases at the cellular
and molecular level. The lab’s technological focus is on the design,
fabrication and biomedical applications of Microsystems, semi-conductor
chips, micro fluidics and nanotechnologies, in particular, on imaging,
sensing and regulating cellular processes critical to development and
diseases at cellular and molecular levels. Our translational focus is on
clinical cancer diagnosis, targeted therapy and early prevention. Recent
highlights include the handheld early cancer imaging endoscopes, the compact
systems for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) detection, and the screening of
diverse molecular biomarkers, among many others.
Our research program builds on relevant capabilities and experience
available at Dartmouth College, its two related Graduate Schools including
Thayer School of Engineering, Geisel School of Medicine, the
interdisciplinary Dartmouth Graduate Studies program, an NCI-designated
Comprehensive Cancer Center (Norris Cotton [NCCC]), and the on-site
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, a premier academic medical facility. In
addition, our research effort is highly synergized with the Dartmouth Center
for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence (DCCNE), which has been sponsored by
NIH since 2009.
The Thayer School of Engineering is a graduate school at Dartmouth College.
Founded in 1769, Dartmouth is a member of the Ivy League and consistently
ranks among the world's greatest academic institutions. Dartmouth is well
known for graduating many students who take the leading positions in the
public service, research and industrial practice around the world.
Research Associate position (available immediately)
We welcome applications from individuals with a background in engineering,
including and not limited to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering,
chemical engineering, or material engineering and sciences. Applicants must
have a PhD degree. We expect the successful candidate to have relevant
prior experience in:
* Microfluidics design, fabrication, and theoretical modeling
* Bio-chip design, cell analysis, extraction and quantitative analysis of
sub-cellular materials, such as single cell level profiling and genetic
analyses
* Clean room manufacturing, and/or soft lithography and microfluidics
fabrication experience.
For more information or application, please contact Prof. John X.J. Zhang,
email: [email protected]/* */, with a cover letter, your CV with three
potential reference names, research statement, and three representative
publications.
