a guy with a bachelor or even an associate degree can be
a very good mechanical designer or CNC programer. experience plays an
important role. A lots positions requires 5+ years industrial experience
this field is not developing so fast that requires a lot high degree
professional plus security clearance is a pain in the ass for foreign MEers

for those hands on job, like design and analysis, lower degree may be
enough.But do you wanna run simulation or make 3D drawing for your entire
life?So, when you wanna move up after you got the first job, you need higher
degree to become a project manager or sth..
But the dilemma is...how can we find the first job?

在monster上面做做research先，找manager的多半是M.S prefered。牛叉点的公司都只招
M.S和Ph.D,当然工作经验也很看重

qualification的问题。

发帖数: 90 | 10 The minimal required degree counts. XXX prefered doesn't mean much, as there
are so many other factors will be taken into consideration, prefered degree is
only one of them. Of course there are some positions require PhD, but how
many? And how many of those require citizenship, possibly with security
clearance? For most of people on this board it would be almost impossible to
obtain those during their working life.
