this is a very broad area concerning the synthetic method,types of polymer,
application and so on.
for the purpose of synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles, diverse polymer
species have been employed as template. The template works as either structure
directing agents for the growth of nanostructure with special shape, or
protecting agents for nanoparticles with good size/size distribution.
Templates widely used so far include dendrimers, block copolymers and special
ones such as DNA.

Currently, the problem is where this kind of thing can be used. I am combining
some Fe or Fe/Ni nanoparticles with some polyner as catalyst and reductant for
some reaction. Some guys use this for nonlinear optical device. I think the
most promising maybe is the hybrid organic solar cell. They combine some
semi-conductor nanoparticles with some conducting polymer to convert solar
energy to electricity. the particle shape, size, and the properties of the
conducting polymer also can impact the perf

some questions for you
what media do these nanoparticles exist in, water or organic? how about the
nanoaprticles size? how to avoid the oxidation of these nanoparticles? and
what reaction it is used for catralytic purpose?
by the way, for nonlinear optical properties, metal is good? I suspect since
its large absorption crossection, thus lower its figure of merit.
as for quantum dot in conducting polymer, how is the stability and quantum
yield?

For mine, the polymer acts as some kind of supported. Although my advisor said
many advantages for this polymer, I think it is just a support and it can not
take some many responsibilities. It is used in water remediaction to
dechlorinate chlorinated organics. I don't care the oxidation of the
nanoparticles (<100 nm and >10 nm), as long as they can degrade the organics
to hydrocarbons. in fact it does!
I read some parpers from Japanese for the nonlinear optical device.
