J*****n 发帖数: 179 | 1 Hi folks
I'm looking for organic solvents which can form strong hydrogen bond with
the oxygen of carbonyl(C=O) in ester group. Do you guys know some candidates?
Thanks for help in advance. |
t****1 发帖数: 232 | 2 Depends on your ester group... I have experience of H-bonding of n-butanol
and methacrylates/acrylates, even the OH group in monomer can form H-bonding
with carbonyl group. |
J*****n 发帖数: 179 | 3 What temperature for the formation of the H-bond? I prefer to form the H-
bond at high temperature, saying about 90-100C.
Thanks for you kind reply. Very appreciate.

t****1 发帖数: 232 | 4 high temperature might disrupt H-bonding, but 90-100C should be fine. In
order to prove the existance of H-bonding, you can try to do some FT-IR with
the mixture of your monomer and solvents. The carbonyl peak should show up
around 1710cm-1 and there will be a distinctive shoulder upon the peak once
there is H-bonding formed with carbonyl group. For details, you can check my
