基本情况：MM在国内一家三甲医院做影像诊断工作，准备考过医师资格证之后过来。
1. 请问国内的医师资格证和大型设备上岗证在美国有帮助吗？
2. 初步计划过来后先申请做影像technician。看到有前辈讲需要读一年program才可以参加考试，也有前辈讲国内有相关工作经历可以直接考试，请指点。
3. 如果可以做technician再考虑考board，但是貌似影像不算在临床医学，请问那些发过dean's letter的同学都可以报名通过吗？
4. 如果可以考usmle，申请radiologist有多大可能，大家知道有成功先例吗？
5. 如果做放射医生概率很小，大家有其他推荐的路走吗（医学之内最好）？

I will contact some hospitals/institutions for detailed requirements/
procedures after getting some basic ideas about the pros/cons from this
forum.
One of my American friends, who is working on nuclear&particle physics, also
wants to pursue a career as a radiologist in hospital, so I kind of know
how competitive it would be. As for my GF's situation, we are just
considering this possibility.

Therefore, you should make sure that you are eligible to take the USMLE test
first. |

med school, w/o Bacholar degree of clinic medicine, you are not qualified
to apply for USMLE, thus, not qualified to take residency.
you can take some course, and get a master degree on medical nuclear&
particle physics, then to pass some techologist certificate on this
professional board, then work as a techologist in hospital to serve doctors
on CT/MRI/PCT service, which is a very good paid job and profession, several

I don't have a medical degree. However, a couple of postdocs in my group
joined the UCSF residency program after their postdoc period. None of them
has any medical background. And one of my friends (also in my group) will
join it after half a month. He told that this two year postdoc/residency
program gives clinic training. After one and half year training, he need to
take the certification test (I don't know whether it's USMLE).
I am wondering how difficult the training and certif

If what you said is true, maybe you should try it.
The GC, difficulty of USMLE and job in future will not be a problem if you
can really get into the residency program.

To USMedEdu: could you please give me some suggestion for my situation? I
learned a lot from the internet, but I have never got any contact with a
doctor in the US. Your help will be highly appreciated!
PS: my GF works in a prestige hospital in China, so we still don't know is
it worthwhile to quit the job and come here. Thanks in advance!

首先没有进医学院读医科, 就别凑这个热闹了，想都不要想，浪费时间，
至于你在试验室看到的研究人进住院的，是人家已经在MD/PHD prog 里面了，
None of them has any medical background, 是更本不可能的,
即使你说的没有错，也不是这里大家一般理解的，医学院后的住院，很可能是
医院具有独特性的训练项目，那到是不一定要有医学背景，但人家也可能叫
residency prog，但他们绝对不会在医生面前这样说的，

oncologist.
It is not handled by USMLE, but by ABR.
Medical physics do have residency program, and they are trying to make it a
required step (like Medical Doctor).

也叫
residency program. 是在department of radiation oncology里面。我看那些
residents
都是ph.D., 不是M.D. 那些program好像是CAMPEP Accredited Residency Programs.
那么请问做medical physicist的前景怎么样呢？谢谢大家。

，但是不多。可以直接申请residency，或是如果她在国内做完resident，然后在美国
做fellow，再转成resident。如果能干呢，怎么都能折腾出一条路来。

我原来也听人说fellow尽管多花些时间但相对机会大一点点，但是请问是她在国内做完
residency可以直接申请美国的fellow吗，谢谢！
MM是一个性格比较谦和的人不够tough，我也不太指望她真的能在美国做上放射医生，
最重要是希望她能有一份力所能及的工作可以有自我认同感，那请问您觉得如果做放射
技师怎么样呢，会不会比较可行？谢谢！

印度人的英语非常地道，我一直以为是在这边train的，后来才知道他是新来的fellow.
如果你GF的英语也很棒，那就TRY一下吧。

key. It's a mental challenge for radiologists because they have to make
correct diagnosis in a very short time.
