发帖数: 153 | 1 对于即将开始intern生活的xdjm来讲，申请fellowship的问题已经摆在面前。在申请之
前，想清楚几个问题。
1、 要不要申请fellowship
跟很多attending和前辈都讨论过，尽管尚有争议，但是现在总体医疗改革的趋势和结
果会减少专科和PCP收入的差距。别的科不敢说，很多人认为内科专科以后收入的差距
会减少。面试时碰见一个哥们，中国人，三年级的，一边面试还在一边犹豫，因为刚刚
找了一份hospitalist的工作，在匹斯堡，12小时shift, 7天on, 7 day off，28万（其
他情况不知道）。所以从收入来讲，花3-4年作专科未必划得来。想想为啥要做专科。
2、 申请哪一个专科
收入、job market、life style、竞争性、自己的background等都是考虑的内容。但是
bottom line是自己是否喜欢这个专科。想想几十年面对某类病人、某种stress，能否
受得了。千万不要因为收入好、life style轻松或是自己一直就是做这个研究的，容易
申请就申请。别为专科而专科。建议如果没决定的话，多跟各科的fellow， att |

If you can't obtain the full support from your PD, your chance to go to a
competitive fellowship will be minimum (exception includes Geriatrics and
palliative care).
PD may send excellent, very good, good or so so LOR. There are huge
differences.

I can not understand this, given people who are interested in fellowship
have started the application process from Sep. If you start the elective in
the end of the year or the early time of next year, I am wondering whether
it will be late and miss some good chance. AnyXDJM can give me some answer.

as an intern (July- Dec). Do it in Jan or Feb of your PGY-1 training.
