Many of us find these as hard to read as you do to write. We seldom use the
statement as an important discriminator. That said, there are rare personal
statements that so succeed in painting a picture of you as an interesting
person that I will really want to meet you. Unfortunately, more of you,
concerned to be noticed, worry me by self-aggrandizing ego-centric prose. If
your file is iffy to start with, this will put you in the rejected pile. We

1. 早点动手。一篇好的PS要写几个月，重写很多次。指望一两个周末就能写出很炫的
文章，难度比较高。
2.开始写的时候不要拘泥于篇幅，也不要考虑PD会不会喜欢这样写或者那样写。先写给
你自己看，想怎么写就怎么写，想写多少就写多少。平时就什么好的想法就记下来，没
准就用得上。然后再慢慢修改到中规中矩，长度适中。
3.Cliche是难免的，这篇文章已经给人写烂了。我们大部分人都只是芸芸众生，没有一
写出来就惊艳四座的经历。但是文章里要有闪光的地方，不要把整篇PS都变成cliche。
闪光点不是自吹自擂。申请IM，你滔滔不绝地吹嘘研究经历，那就是表错情。更不要
namedrop，恶心的要死。
4.多找几个人帮你看，提意见。
