w/ 2 different names.
I have to correct this now. Just read about the description of these 2
within a same program, the differences are:
Trans-yr will have only one block of ICU/CCU module, and one of general
surgery.
VS.
Prelim-yr will have two ICU/CCU but none in surgery.
So, it seems like these 2 do have some degree of difference. Just don't know
what that is.

of my classmates attended several TY interviews but ended at prelim
positions). If you have choices, pay more attention to prelim positions

I'm just curious. Didn't apply for either of these.
But your input is helpful to many of our friends here.
I met some transitional yr interns in the summer but didn't get the chance
to ask what their R-2 specialties are. So, usually which specialties they
will continue on?

- anesthesiology
- dermatology
- 4-year EM
- ophthalmology
- PM&R
- radiation oncology
- radiology
- neurology (TY must include a 6 to 8 months of internal medicine)
For AMGs TY interview invites are relatively easy to get, but one has to
compete with those competitive Derm, Rads, and Rad Onc candidates.
Also be careful that unlike preliminary medicine or surgery, transitional
years only count for PGY-1 credit in advanced specialties. If you switch
later to a categorical specialty （e.g., IM, Peds）, you will have to
repeat another PGY-1 year. | a*****o
