actually, not only for Path applicants, IM, Peds and even Anesth, etc, all
same!
Key: how do u present your whole package to impress PD/Chair!!!
去年，我收到的最感动我之一的信是位毕业19年两个孩子母亲CMG，而且在加拿大，
她申请了很多内科单位，只有1个给了面试，而那个单位Chair当即就给了她OFFER。
还有一个也是毕业近20年的老CMG，俩宝爹，面试完内科，在医院门口当即给我打来
电话告知：Chair给我PRE-MATCH了！你是第一个我要告知的人！他的声音带着呜咽。。。。。。
我可以想象和理解他/她当时的激动心情。。。。。。
什么是义无反顾？什么是坚持不懈？
这样的例子，在我那两个存了上千封来信的信箱里，不是个例！！！！ |

发帖数: 5829 | 4 类似的例子在我的私人信箱里有很多。也是去年，我曾辅导过，在统一城市和单位工
作的80年代毕业两宝妈，申请众多内科和病理，最后只有两个病理面试，最后成功
地被其中一个也是大学单位PRE-MATCH。
至少，我亲自带过的6位CMG都是1994年以前毕业的，5个(3个内科，2个病理)已经进
去了，4个PGY-2，一个PGY-1 。 |

我只要在这版上"混"这天,我甘当"革命军中马前卒",守两条防线_____也是MD版的底线:
1: CMG可不可以挤身与美国临床医生的行列?
毫无疑问可以!
2: 年龄和毕业年限是不是问题?
理所当然不是主要问题!!
我说守的意思,就是"血肉长城"______任何人不得逾越! |

我的两个考友，不过都不是中国人，一个今年毕业15年，另外一个15年还多，在8月份
开始申请前就拿到off-site的offer了，一个IM，一个病理（相当相当好的university
program）。俩人共同特点就是在自己home country都有临床经验，到美国来做科研后
建立了connection,其实也不直接认识PD，就是老板推荐啦。program的要求明明白白写
着毕业要小于5年，要有美国临床经验，bala bala，这俩人哪条都不符合，连OB都没有
，还off－site offer呢。所以凡事都有可能，就看自己怎么怒力了。
别拍我哈，不能以个案推广，就是想给大家打打气。 |

too much applicants.
If u can stand out, no ANY rule to block u in!!!--my first OB student even
has no CS, no ECFMG certificat, got JHH and UC both pre-match at in December
, he got his 2nd CS in January!!!!
I gave so many examples which I myself experienced and witnessed, why u guys
still bothered by those jerkers who only show off his NB face and no any
real help? |

发帖数: 56 | 8 对。要坚持不懈，我的三个朋友，一个七十多分，一个step2 passed at the second
time, 现在CLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 作 ATTENDING DOCTOR； 一个也是step2 passed at
the second time； 现在 Onclology attending doctor. Some people are not good
in exam, but very good in practice. We have so many classmates did not have
good score in school, but very successful in career. 当然，要努力靠99， 但是
没有99，the door is not closed.

发帖数: 51 | 9 yes, I saw a guy from South Korea with a step 2 CK of low pass and step1 95,
CS pass, need H-1b visa go into Orthopedic Surgery fellowship at Wash U.
Meanwhile his wife was admitted at dept of anasthesiology residency at Wash
U. Can you imagine that? The key is connection and your own strong
background. Try our best to establsih connection and strengthen our own
background like improving oral Englsih and interview skills...
I totally agree Lao Dao on his positive, supportive and encouraging words. I
always think he is the backbone of our old CMG! Of course, I don't mention
the Big Cow because I am the very common guy. |

points. So everybody can shine. Think positively, behave positively, and
present ourselves positively. |

发帖数: 240 | 11 It costs peanuts for the application, especially compared with the time cost
we put into this career. Apply for as many as possible. 200 is a good
start. There are 1000 applications for 10 positions on average. The best
strategy is to pick the ones without restrictions first. And if you have
extra energy, send out applications to every one left out there.
