Our spoken English will never be perfect. So native Americans can always
pick up some errors here or there if they want to. Most people understand
our challenges and appreciate our efforts. If you're hard working and make
good contributions to the team, most of them will not be that picky on
your spoken English. If you have some colleagues to defend you, then you
should not be worried.

Thank you for your advice. I really really really want to improve my spoken
English. Wondering where I can find a professional tutor?
Actually, I have been working hard and trying my best to get along well with
the team member. However, she has been bad mouthing me behind my back from
time to time and using accent as my vulnerability to degrade my performance.
I will have a meeting with her and a high level to discuss communication
issue, etc (??, don’t know what it is). She is very dominant, bossy, and
talkative. I am sure she won’t give me an easy time. Don’t know how to

i don't know.. check out your hospital website?
usually in the university, they have service like this - i assume in your
hospital should have similar service as it is a working environment, people
always have issues like this.
try to search your hospital website for similar service. if they do provide
it, they can listen to your case, and also can help to get the other party
coming in and help both of you to communicate, better undertand each other.
Below is an example description for this type of service that you can try to
see if you find anything on your website similar to it:

I agree. May be both of you should find another partner.
I don't think it's your spoken English is the issue. It's more a
relationship issue than a language issue. She just pick the one that you
can't argue. Makes you feel bad for yourself.
In the meeting with higher management team, just tell the truth, be
calm. Tell the facts only, no assumptions. Don't be afraid, don't be
emotional.

I just started working for several months but I have already met some
patients who don’t want to be taken care of by foreigner clinicians and use
accent as an excuse to switch to other clinicians.
Last week, I got a message from nurse saying that a patient wanted to know
her pathology result. I called her back and told her result using layman’s
word. However, she said “I did not understand you because you had accent”.
Then she called nurse again, saying that I have accent, and requested to
speak with the team member who has problems with me. Once again, the team
member had another chance to collect evidence to attack me. I am so
frustrated and hurt by this event.
I feel that most of time the problem is not accent but trust. Just as Daisy

For patients, you have to work extra to gain their trust. Remember when

如果真是难缠的病人,you can only do what you can,不一定能讨每个人欢心但如果你真的care病人,他们是知道的。
I am willing to improve and I am working on it.

my suggestion - does this only happen one time (the patient complains to
your team leader)? if yes, then take the lesson and be careful; if this
happened more than one time, is it possible for you to talk to the patients
face to face instead of over the phone? sometimes with accent it will be so
difficult to understand over the phone, but if face to face, with writing
and paperwork, it will dramatically smoothes out the conversation and
satisfy the patients' need for correctly understanding what you are trying
to tell them. this is one way of working extra hard to gain their trust and
etc.

Communication is the key,不只是language

just like her non-English speaking great grandma from Africa or Europe had
to speak broken Enlgish to get by at first. Lastly remmber even native
speakers misunderstand each other. I am you support here, you have people.

Practice talking in plain language forget about the big words. There are
many families I work with dont understand "big words". Watch talk shows and
English chat boards to learn how every- day people talk.

suggest you to see a speech pathologist/speech therapist.
