Thanks for the suggestions on MCAT verbal from Jon and Jordan, two awesome
teachers from EK. I've started to apply the critical reading method for MCAT
verbal on my other reading assignment.
Instead of reading for the details as I usually do, now when I have a tough
reading task, I keep ask myself, "What is the main idea? What is the thesis?
" If it is a scientific paper, I will ask myself, "What is the main
hypothesis? What's the evident supporting the hypothesis? Are the evident
necessary and sufficient to support the hypothesis"
Reading for the main idea, like this, is a lot of fun. And I'm very engaged.
I feel my brain gets sharper and sharper upon training like this. MCAT
verbal practice makes me smarter!
Maybe I should just forget the mind-training games and keep practicing MCAT
verbal. And I will have a 30-year-old brain when I am 80 :)
