whole department, the shortest time to graduate is 5 years. The longest could
be 8 years. I do not know my luck at this time. Anyway, I can not make it
this year. I do not know if it is worthwhile quitting Ph.D. at the end of
4th year with a Master degree. At this time, I am planning to apply
pathology. I have no clue how much impact quitting will have on my residency
application. Should I quit or stick on until graduation? I heard some
rumors that residency slots will be cut in the near future. | D*********r 发帖数: 371 | 2 hang in there. as far as i know, many successful CMGs have great packages
with good USMLE scores, strong support from physicians or mentors, and great
communication skills. their research experiences become an invaluable asset
when they apply for various fellowships later in their careers. but I think
to get into residency, scores, connection, and communication skills are the
key. to get a Ph.D might help (or even be necessary for most of us) to
achieve those key components. in the long run, Ph.D might also help to apply
for GC in the long run, which is another practical issue we have to face.
