He passed his step 1 in April, 2011. Unfortunately, he passed away in May , 2011 due to complicatioins of surgery for his termianl renal cancer.

I thank Almighty for giving me the strength not to give up.
I am a very old graduate (1994). When first I came to the US, I did not
speak any English. My first job interview was with 7/11 grocery store. They
rejected my application for not being able to speak English. Like many other
first generation of immigrants, my priority was to support my family, so I
started working as cab driver for about 8 years. I continued to work full
time till the two months before my exam. I am very glad that I passed it. I
know I have very little chance to get match, but at least I will not blame
myself for the rest of my life for not giving a try.
I thank all members of this forum especially SARIM, MARYAM2009, IA, SIMRAN,
RAHIM and many others. I learned from them.
My NBME scores:
NBME 6 – 440
Uwsa2 – 460
NBME 7- 470 (not in time mode)
I am a slow reader. Almost in every block during the exam I clicked on my
favorite letter for the last 2-3 questions. If I could do it, then everyone
can do it :)

The person who wrote this post was my brother.
Immediately after receiving his passing score, my brother went in for
regular check-up and after a routine exam, he was diagnosed with kidney
cancer which had spread to his lungs.
On May 16th, 2011 (less than a month after this post) he went into surgery
and following internal bleeding as a result of surgery, he was pronounced
brain dead and was taken off the machines a few days later.
His whole life, my brother was a caretaker for his parents, his siblings,
his near and distant family and friends. He was a humble, religious, honest,
and strong man.
He left behind a wife and two daughters who were aged 4 and 2.
He had many plans in life which he put on hold until better circumstances.
His happiest time of his life was the two short weeks he had after passing
his exams. It was supposed to be just the beginning.
I am happy that he passed the test and I am happy to see that he achieved
something for himself.
I can never forget my brother who really played the role of a father to me
and beg God every night to dream about him so my pain is soothed. The whole
world misses him dearly but no matter in which religion, I know he was an
exceptionally good man according to any religion |

because of the disadvantage circumstances but never gave up his dream. He
got back to it once things were better. "His happiest time of his life was
the two short weeks he had after passing his exams."
