了。我想重问一下prelim的问题。会中有人问若match to prelim但是没有match to
advance specialties，是否可以先完成prelim这一年, 同时继续申请advance
specialty。Dr.迟 的回答是：可以，但是prelim一年会很累。
现我的问题是：我只打算申请内科，可否同时申请同一program的prelim &
categorical以获得更大的面试机会? 完成一年prelim后，转成categorical是否容易?
还是prelim只是为那些申请advanced specialties而设置的？

may consider giving u a pgy-2 position.
In general, applying to both prelim and categorical of the same program does
not increase your chance.

to get a prelim from the same program.

- 可以的，在prelim后填上internal medicine as your advanced specialty; during
interview, you can tell the PD that you applied both tracks in order to
increase your chance to be accepted into the IM program. Otherwise, the PD
may think that you may be applying for an advanced program at the same time
or your are not determined on IM yet.
完成一年prelim后，转成categorical是否容易?
- Depends on the program. It may not be hard in some. It could be harder in
others. Certain programs only occasionally let few prelim stay and repeat
PGY1. |
