My feeling is that many programs are simply holding the unfilled positions
despite the fact that they declared that they participate SOAP. There were
11 transtional programs unfilled on Monday and now there were still 9
unfilled programs--highly unlikely considering so many applicants are crazy
in applying anywhere. The same goes with preliminary medicine: there were 48
programs unfilled and still 35 now.....Something is fishy. The system is
not working as expected.

another thing I want to mention is " when they fill up the vacancy, they

have a better chance with pathology in SOAP, since most of us are older
graduates with research experience or good scores.

programs are just trying to fill their slot with AMG as many as possible.
They have 8 rounds to do so. The IMG has very little chance to get match in

刚下班回来, 才看到这个帖子. 不是SOAP专家, 只是关注SOAP, 在等待Match前也做了
大量准备. 试着回答你的问题, 个人意见, 仅供参考.
- 这个soap, 是不是优先考虑以前申请过他家的，或者面试过的？
- "以前申请过的"不会得到优先考虑, 但"面试过的"相对会增加机会, 至少因为眼熟(
只要不是IV时表现及其糟糕). 以前面试过的Programs现在却出现了Unfilled Position
, 只能说明该申请者没有被Rank, 在使用SOAP的申请QUOTA(30-10-5)时, 对Applicant
而言,我个人认为, 肯定先申请面试过的.
- soap的时候才第一次申请，是不是希望更小？
- 不会, 大家机会都一样(指SOAP而言), Package自然非常重要, 尤其是SOAP前的准备
(针对不同专业的PS, LOR, Personal Profile等), 还要讲究申请技巧和对规则的理解
（比如说， program-initiated contact，program-entering preference list等有
很多解读方式）, 尤其是如何合理优化用完这QUOTA, 这从前几年的Scramble数据中基
本上能得到一个结论该把重点放在哪儿,这需要Package来支持(至少有相应的PS和LOR),
SOAP时, Applicants没有多少选择余地, 关键是希望机会最大化, 拿到Offer了, 1%
的机会就变成了100%的收获了.
