the recording of my webinar 3/30. I hope you will find it helpful one way
or another.
I remember when I applied for the residency many years ago, I had no idea
why I got matched. In fact, I had no clue at all till I became the chief
resident then chief fellow and start to interview applicants. However, only
when I became an attending and start to evaluate and mentor the residents
and fellows, I became completely understand why the program chose this
applicant over the others. Nothing is random and nothing is luck. There are
so many things applicant can improve in a short amount of time to catch an
attending's eye. It is very important to learn from the success story.
However, it is even more important to learn from the mistakes and failure.
In the next few weeks, I am going to host a series of events focusing on the
following things:
1. How to understand yourself and find the best strategy to improve your
application in a short amount of time
2. Introduction to the GME and learn how to interact with the attending and
other team members so you can "shine" during your externship or observership
and get a strong letter
3. Use real life comparison to demonstrate what is a good PS and what is a
strong LOR and show you why
4. Understand the mind of an interviewer and what happen during the rank
meeting discussion
5. How to communicate with the program before and after the IV
