We know you’re looking for an educational experience of the highest quality
. To meet your expectations and satisfy accreditation requirements, we set
the bar high for our applicants. Here are the steps you’ll need to take to
be considered:
Complete a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited US or Canadian
institution by the end of May of the year you apply.
Earn a required minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in science and overall.
Complete and submit a CASPA online application.
Submit three letters of recommendation.
Demonstrate completion of 200 hours of professional or volunteer hands-on
patient care experience (Pre-Admission Clinical Experience)
Submit your scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) by October 1
of the year you apply. The GRE is not required of applicants who have a U.S.
acquired Master's degree or higher.

Special Notes about Prerequisites
Here are some important points to remember about prerequisite courses.
Time Limits: There is no time limit on prerequisite coursework.
Advanced Placement: Except for courses that meet the University of Texas
credit-transfer criteria, such as advanced placement or international
baccalaureate credit awarded for undergraduate courses, we don’t offer
advanced student placement or waive required or department courses for
applicants to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. You must
complete all required courses, even if you’ve taken related courses in
another setting or hold a medical degree from another country.
Transcript Review: Due to the number of applications received, we are unable
to review transcript content for prospective applicants. All course
requirements and prerequisites are as stated on the web page.
Applying Before Prerequisites Are Completed: You may apply and interview for
admission, even if you haven’t completed all of the prerequisite courses,
as long as you complete them by December 31 in the year you apply and send
us those transcripts by February 1.
Pre-Admission Clinical Experience
Clinical experience that includes direct hands-on patient care is required.
In order to be competitive, an applicant should have a minimum of 200 hours
of hands-on patient care experience. Applicants must demonstrate
evidence of completion of the 200 hours of professional or volunteer hands-
on patient care experience prior to submitting the CASPA application.
Examples of hands-on patient care experience include, but are not limited to
Aide, Phlebotomist, Clinical Research Assistant, etc. Student training
experiences such as student nurse, student EMT, student athletic trainer,
or other health care student training are not accepted as clinical hours.
Experiences such as "shadowing", laboratory testing with no patient contact,
non-clinical research, life guard, or clerical work are not
accepted as clinical hours. We encourage applicants to "shadow" a PA to
become informed of the role of the PA, although this experience does not
count as patient care experience. Evidence of community service in a
health care setting. (i.e. healthcare for underserved populations,
medical mission work, etc.) is highly valued.
Essential Functions
Everyone who applies for admission to the UT Southwestern School of Health
Professions, including people with disabilities, must be able to perform
specific essential functions, which differ depending upon the academic
program. Essential functions are the basic activities that a student must be
able to perform to complete the program’s curriculum.
Applicants who cannot perform the program’s essential functions, either
with or without reasonable accommodations, may not be considered for
admission. Each UT Southwestern School of Health Professions student must be
able to:
Attend scheduled classes and laboratory sessions and be present for

wounds and skin lesions.
Demonstrate sufficient hearing to perform auscultation of the heart and
vessels, breath sounds, and abdominal sounds.
Demonstrate sufficient upper- and lower-body strength, coordination,
dexterity, and sensation to perform such activities as (but not limited to)
prolonged standing, complete physical examination, and surgical and clinical
procedures, such as suturing, casting, venipuncture, emergency procedures,

情况了解下更多信息。刚看前面帖子有人回复说PA不分专业的，我隐约记得好像看到也
是这样，只要拿到certificate就可以找工作了，但是如果想进好的专业，可以再修个
专科的，就好像想做专科医生还得修专科一样，不知道我这个看法对不对。
再说下medical assistant，好像是类似秘书样的工作，主要做文书记录工作的，怎么
会对patient care experience 有帮助呢？这样子去申请PA不是太曲折了吗？我看过
Duke的官网，据说竞争也很激烈，有同学可以说下这行业亚裔甚至华裔的比例以及投资
回报比吗？

做了一下作业：几个大学的要求， prerequisites 超过时间了！这个很难满足呀。
Stony Brook : Preference for interview is given to applicants who have:
• a natural science gpa and an overall gpa of 3.00 or better
• have completed coursework in Anatomy and Physiology at the time
of application
• whose natural science prerequisites have been taken within seven
years of application
• completed all of the required prerequisites at the time of
application.

Bay Shore campus & TOURO College
Applicants whose sciences prerequisites are more than 10 years old may be
required to take refresher courses unless exempted by the PA Program

100人，按80算那全美： 80 x 160 = 12800 人，大部分是Master program
要求课程： General Chemistry ，General Biology Anatomy & Physiology，
Microbiology，Psychology，Sociology，Medical Terminology，Statistics
大部分GPA要求3.0， 5年以内GRE 成绩， 3封推荐信 和2000小时临床经验
问题： 国内医学院的分数不高，换算GPA 可能到不了3.0， 不够的话有什么办法补救

program. about 7 years ago, I knew a lady,When shed entered the program she
was told her expected salary would be around 55k, but when she graduated
about 4 years ago, her first job offer was $100,000.
I was told there were only about 20-30 programs in the country at that time.

exam, 5 years ago, because of my MD credential, I got the chance to get
appointments to talk with several program directors. their consideratons at
that time were 1)finish the course without problems,including financial,
health, and family causes. 2) your possibility to pass the board exam when
you finish the program and to be a good PA. They hate students can not
finish the courses or can not be a good PA. They preferred the FMG before,
but now, I guess, they may have some problems with FMG in some programs. You
really need to do some research before you apply certain programs.If they
do not have this kind of experience, you have advantages during the
interviews, they believes what you talk, but if they already have FMG in the
program before, your chance will be depend on the performance of the FMG
who were accepted before.
The Yale PA Program welcomes applications from non-US citizens. Applicants
must have completed at least one year of study in an American, British or
Canadian college or university environment prior to the application deadline
. We do not enroll international students who have already completed a
medical course of study in a foreign institution.

现在也和usmle申请一样通过网上完成,主要是向CASPA递交申请,以上链接可以看到目前
全国范围内的programs和有些新成立的还未取到accredition的program.向CASPA递交申
请的时间是每年4月17号到5月1号.递交申请之前一定要提前3,4个月做准备工作,那就是
联系名个program,询问申请条件及具体接受申请的时间及开学时间.
我把大况翻译了一下,有兴趣的可以到网页上看.我也同意别把鸡蛋放到一个筐子
里,所以也替奋斗中的兄弟姐妹呦喝一声,希望有关医学职业的有经验者能多多发帖,让

我的问题是:PA的申请对CMG来说啥是硬伤?毕业后的出路来讲啥是硬伤?当然,英语

学校和OK的2所，很多学校不接受外国修的课，BAYLOR排名不错，但是钱很贵，快赶上
医学院了，身份是个问题最好是有，因为基本上我知道的没有国际学生，好点的学校全
是白人，MINOR很少。

程是美国休的，而且有时间限制,而且越来越多的学校要求临床经验。还是有一些学校
不需要，比如Yale PA programm，没有课程的时间限制和临床经验.感觉大家还是要抓
紧，要求越来越高。
我的问题是在我查工作招聘的时候，发现很多时候PA的工作，Nurse Practioner也可以
。如果没有Nurse的本科学历，很多学校都有3年的NP master programme.我想问问大家

1.UNIVERSITY OF IOWA,这个学校的好处是GRE没有过期时间，不需重考，只要有原件就
可申请。国外修的学分可以直接转，只需补休学分不够的科目。但是口语要求高，申请
前要绿卡。
