Just done my exam at ATLANTA with 23 AMGs this Monday. Not quite successful
and hopefully can pass by bordenline.
Done Step1 last Sep and CK this April [both with avg scores]. Two full
months for CS.Focusing on FA 44 cases and mini cases. Did UW during last 2
weeks. Have 3 fixed partners from the beginning, very lucky!!!
No onsite workshop but online tutoring only by Dr Gold [5 hrs each x 4 study
partners as a group, I personally think this is a good strategy for online
tutoring]. For my personal case, I am positive with Gold's tutoring.
Lessons:
1: Time management is critical for sure and do not be panic all the time.
I scewed up my first case because too nervous, and another neural case which
could be a test case [the SP is very cold and distant].Also made lots of
mistakes during most cases.
2: I tried to cut down my questions and PE to save 1-2 mins for PN. Plan
your strategy before your exam!!!!
3: Do not try to change protocol during real exam unless you are very
confident at your SEP.---I was asked to repeat several questions by SP; it's
very frustrated. My tutor said never let SP say excuse me twice,otherewise
you will fail SEP.
4: During closure, be very very confident and make eye contacts with SPs
even you are not sure about your Dx. Most SPs will stare at you during whole
closure!!
5: Most SPs will have more than 2 or 3 challenging questions, which will
take an extra minute. Most of CQs are covered by FA, some relate to your dx
or lab tests.
6: Do not miss any details shown by SP such as shaking feet or hands, cough,
bandage of hands, no "Ouch" when sit up if back/belly pain [could be
malingering.] BE ALERT and give a comment like"are you confortable?"---- I
learned this part from Dr Gold.
7: Most cases can be covered by FA.
