First, get to know people PERSONALLY!!
Attend the rounds, not just one Grand rounds + department's rounds.
Be prepared, and ask attending questions after the talk is over.
First, get to know people personally.
round.
Ob。
2. The way to ask for Ob opportunity ----
unquenchable thirsty!
[Imagine] Dr. xxx, I want to find an opportunity for ob. Can you help me?
Would this work? may or may not. At least, it's not appealing.
Consider:
People like you because of SHARED interest, passion, dream, motive....
Say, my passion is......; I want to LEARN.....to strengthen/push my
understanding to a deeper level....in the clinical setting., thus .... I
wonder if I can shadow you/there's any possibility for an Ob.
3. Don't be afraid of being rejected.
Being rejected is part of the game!!! We should anticipate many "No" before
hearing one "Yes"
You (and me, too) have NOTHING to lose if we get a "No".
But we gain a lot even for one "Yes". The chance to succeed is much higher
than people think, of course, depending on how you present yourself (that's
why I emphasize the point #1, 2)
4. Be prepared to introduce yourself in <2-3minutes, or even less. Not just
your CV. Not just introduce, rather PRESENT yourself.
5.Go to the TEACHING hospitals affiliated with university.
Find a GREAT mentor.
mentor?”
(Wouldn't the
investment on people be the best investment?)
Best of luck to everyone!
