Can it really make sure it's a stone, not something terribly worse like a
malicious tumor?
What specialist should I see now? A ulogist (sp?)? Or a kidney expert?

Tumors are pretty distinct from mineral stones.
Wait till you hear back from the doc who prescribed the test. Depending
on the situation, treatment varies from waiting for it pass naturally to
surgery.
