one is psychological counseling.
and another is biological therapy, i.e. medicine, first line is SSRI. many
options.
but first confirm the diagnosis,feeling down or fatigure is not always major
depression. |

items,
trazodone is not DOC, try SSRI first if he needs any medicine.if failed, try
TCA.
by the way, trazodone can cause priapism (abnormal and continuous erection),
sb said it is drug of choice for patient with erectile dysfunction, but don
't trust him. |

. There are a laundry list of meds with different efficacy and side effect
profiles. In general SSRI is first line, but trazodone can be useful if the
major issue is sleep.
Not sure about the situation in China though. |

It takes many patients several years to be properly diagnosed, even in the U.S. under the care of psychiatrists. Some are missed for the diagnosis, some other diseases are misdiagnosed as depression.

Why so quick? because of the concern of suicide. It is international

American Psychiatric Association disagrees with you on many aspects. 2/3 of
initial diagnosis of depression are wrong, according to recent reports
released in 2008 by the psychiatric associations in the U.S. and U.K.

a lot of depression cases are misdiagnosed, but why? psychiatrists are
stupid? This is the art of medicine, or mercy.
If you are a psychiatrist, you really don't want to miss any depressant
patient, because he or she may commit suicide immediately after leaving the
clinic, right.
If I am the psychiatrist, I would rather misdiagnose, give some advices or
meds to the "diagnosed" patient than say "go back home and come back next
month" and I may never see him again.
