plagiocephaly), and asked me to call a plastic surgeon. But the surgeon
would not see him unless he gets an X-ray image of the head, and the
appointment with radiology is next Monday. We are worried that exposing him
to X-ray may cause other problems.
My son does like to sleep on the right side, and now we are doing everything
to encourage him to sleep on the left. His head does look a little bit

For example, after baby has had a bad fall, timely diagnosis of brain injury is important & may be worth the risk. Bit if only moderate plagiocephaly is suspected here, you may also want to ask the ped about just wait-and-see. It is a temporary cosmetic issue, does not cause brain development problems, and usually resolves pretty wel

If he had an injury, I will definitely let him take the X-ray exam. I just
don't know whether his condition is that urgent.

fix his problem by ourselves.

unnecessary in your son's matter. In helmet clinic, topographic laser
imaging is used instead. Then the clinic will order or make (mold, i.e.
specially cast) a helmet for your son to wear. 4 months old is a good time
to start. Most infants with plagiocephaly start helmet therapy since 6
months old. It takes about 3 to 6 months. So, by longest, your son's head
shape will be corrected by his 1 yr birthday.
