I wanted to communicate it with my doctor. However, he is too busy to talk
with me recently. Therefore I can do nothing but wait now.

发帖数: 4202 | 6 The doctor didn't explain anything about my MCV! It sounds like she was
unable to explain it but my normal hemoglobin tells her that I have nothing
to do with thalassemia!
I did some research on www.cooleysanemia.org and found out that Silent
Carrier causes no health problems because the lack of alpha protein is so
small that the hemoglobin functions normally．In addition, the website says:
for adults, if the MCV reading is less than 75 and you are not iron
deficient (my doctor said that I am not iron deficient), you may be a
thalassemia trait carrier.
My MCV is 70.6. I am gonna have to find a hematologist to clarify this.

conclusion, I'd like to repeat the test to rule out false positive. |

like cardiogene said. Do what you mean, see a hema doctor to exclude non-
thal. If it is thalathemia, life is as usual anyways. No bother

done again. If my results are still abnormal, I will ask my doctor to refer
a blood doctor for me.

deal since my husband doesn't have it.I don't need to worry if my future
child is going to have major thalassemia. |
