if possible! This is urgent and it's about my father. My father (60 years
old, in China) has liver Cirrhosis (alcohol), we were planning on a liver
transplant. His Dr. ordered a set of thorough tests, found a thrombus or
myxoma in his right atrium, about 2cms in size. It was communicated to me
that they are not sure whether it's a thrombus or myxoma, but in any case,
it's very dangerous, it could fall anytime. He needs a heart surgery first,
but there are great concerns that this would put too much stress/damage to
his liver, would be very hard for him to recover from. I am asking my
friends in China to consult with heart specialist in Beijing.
I was hoping that there are other options, minor surgery or new technique
that can address the heart issue without too much impact on his liver in the
US. I would greatly appreciate your opinion and advice.
If getting treatment here is a good option, I want to bring my father over.
Not quite familiar with the hospital system here, could you please also help
me understand:
(1) would his surgery base on urgency?
(2) if the local hospital we go to does not have the expertise, would they
refer him to an expert hospital?
(3) how much would be to cover the cost, rough range, could be a broad base,
just want to get an idea.
