77 | 2 The doctor here did nothing wrong. You did not follow the advice of this
doctor, and this doctor warned you about the consequences. If you want to
charge anybody for medical malpractice, you should charge the one in China,
it is illegal to provide medical advices without actually examine the
patients. X ray is a 2-D picture and no doctor should give treatment
suggestions based on the x ray alone. The fault is on you and the doctor in
China.
A doctor may loose his license by treating a patient without actually

practice, although it may not be to the best interest of patient.
The doctor in China did nothing wrong either -- he was giving advice as a
friend, not a doctor. Besides, his advice was based on normal practice in
China and there was nothing wrong.
The best way to treat such cases (in Chinese term) is as LZ envisioned,
first 复位, then 固定。 No surgery is needed. However, after 固定, there
should be X-ray from different angles to make sure the position is correct.

Either internal fixation or external fixation of those fracture pts I saw is
all done in OR, no reduction done preoperational at bedside.
It is the sad case, however, the doctor should not be the person to be
blamed. | T******n 发帖数: 77 | 6
This is a dumb argument. If LZ's description is accurate, the action of
this doctor in China at least partly contributed to the poor outcome of the
patient. He said that the patient did not need surgery while in fact she
did. Try argue that I was not a doctor but a friend when I gave the advice
in any court of law, be it in China or in US, you will give the jury a easy
time and be a laughing stock of the masses. If he is a well trained and
responsible doctor, he will not be giving treatment advice to any patient
without examining the patient. I practiced in China for 6 years and in US
for 12, I can categorically tell you that it is not a "normal practice" to
prescribe treatment advice without actually examine the patient in China or
in US, period.
