The Chinese government is raising rates to cool the speculation in their own
housing bubble and have been very proactive in changing the laws to
discourage speculation. We should have done the same, but our government and
Wall Street were too busy counting the profits and tax revenues to see
beyond the next quarter.
Food inflation is one problem, but food shortages are going to be the real
problem. Prices were already on the way up and then the weather made the
situation worse. China is looking at the streets of Egypt and taking steps
to prevent that the same thing doesn't happen in their country.
We have 45 million households on food stamps. What is our strategy? We
should start by cutting the subsidies on ethanol and grow enough food, not
only to feed our country but to export to the rest of the world.

The FACT is, China does not own most of our debt,
they own about 846 billions, about 20%, Japan owns 821 billions,
U.K. own 374 billions, 9%. and the # 1 owner of our debt is us, the U.S.
Treasury.
We own 6 trillions of our debt, and paying interest every day.
Meanwhile, U.S. has annual military budget is about 600 billions, and
keeping military bases among 150 countries in the world.
China has annual military budget about 80 billions.

It's sad to see China care more about the poor and work to cool the costs
for them. And also likely to control the bubble in their country before the
big bust. Still could happen but trying to be proactive. The largest free-
market countries seem to waht to do more to save Wall Street, big banks and
the big bonus checks, but maybe that because they give so much in political
contributions, and any good politation with enough money can twist numbers
at election time to look like they care about the middle class and all the
struggles they are facing.

persistently manipulated BLS numbers like inflation indices (CPI-U, CPI-W)
and unemployment rate so that today real inflation is 4% to 6% higher than
