This day in history – JAL Flight 123 Crashes
Posted on August 12, 2010 by admin
On 12 August 1985 crashed into a Boeing 747-SR46 of the Japanese airline JAL
Japan Airlines Flight 123, on the Tokyo International Airport to Osaka
Itami Airport at an altitude of 1460 meters from the mountain Takamagahara
in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, about 100 km from Tokyo station.
All 15 crew and 505 of the 509 passengers died in the disaster. It is the
heaviest flying accident with only one machine involved.
The Boeing 747 started 18:12 clock on 12 August 1985 from the International
Airport to Tokyo Haneda-Osaka-Itami Airport. On board were the 15-member
crew and 509 passengers, among them the famous Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto.
The normal flight time is 54 minutes.
The machine was on its cruising altitude of 7300 meters has increased, as
was heard from the stern of a strong explosion. The pressure in the cabin
fell off rapidly in the sequence. The pilot began an emergency call. The
crew did not realize that part of the plane was missing: the fin had fallen
into the sea. After the problems of keeping the machine under control
increased, the crew requested permission for the first flight back to Haneda
, then for a landing at the U.S. Air Force Base Yokota Air Base, and
ultimately back to Haneda. When you descend to 4100 meters, the crew
reported a not controllable flight characteristics. Nevertheless, the crew
managed to come out the undercarriage on the emergency system. The Boeing
fell further to 2100 m, a climb up the pilot succeeded at 4000 meters. The
crew maneuvered the 747 only on the thrust, as the hydraulic control system
had failed four times to guide the aircraft completely. Multiple machine
rose steeply with increasing drive in the air to head down just as steeply
herabzustürzen again. Many passengers wrote a short farewell note to her
family. Although the crew accomplished a remarkable feat, the machine
crashed at an altitude of 1460 meters on Mount Takamagahara.
Delayed rescue
Air traffic controllers in the United States Air Force at the Yokota Air
Base, which was near the flight path of JAL 123 had pursued the radio
traffic and calls for help. They kept in touch with the Japanese control and
made their free runway for the aircraft. After they had lost the radar
contact was a C-130 Hercules of the 345th Airlift squadron asked to locate
the lost plane. The C-130 crew discovered the crash site 20 minutes after
the crash the first thing, even in daylight. She informed the Yokota Air
Base and conducted a Huey helicopter from the USAF Yokota to the crash site.
Rescue teams were formed to Marines descend on ropes from helicopters. The
offered assistance from the USAF to lead the Japanese to quickly to the
accident and to assist in the rescue operation has been rejected by the
Japanese leaders. Instead, the Americans were ordered to return to base
because the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF wanted to carry out) the rescue
operations alone.
A JSDF helicopter spotted the wreckage finally in the night, but could not
land because of poor visibility and mountainous terrain at the crash site.
From the air, the pilot reported that no signs of survivors were seen. Based
on this report, it was decided that we would not reach that night to the
aircraft. Instead, the troops spent the night in a small, 68 km from the
city. The next morning, the first rescuers reached the wreck. The rescue
workers later found many lifeless bodies, the injuries showed that they had
survived the crash and died later of their injuries or hypothermia, were as
they waited for help. [A] A doctor said they could help many people if we
would have only 10 hours earlier.
Yumi Ochiai, one of four survivors told in a hospital bed that she had heard
bright lights and rotor noise, shortly after she awoke from the wreckage
was. In vain she tried to draw attention to themselves. Moreover, they could
see cries and moans from many other survivors. During the night, these
sounds were always less.
Causes and consequences
When repairing a Tailstrike at the Osaka International Airport on 2 June
1978 was a fix at the pressure bulkhead at the rear of the machine with a
simple, rather than been secured as required by a double rivets. This repair
was carried out by Boeing. 12 319 landings after the repair was a disaster:
In a burst of about 7300 m altitude, the pressure bulkhead, which was
vented to the cabin pressure in the tail fin and then the downright
absprengte. After the crash, several employees of the airline committed
suicide.

日航维修为了省事,少打了一排铆钉,这可不是波音教的。

Comparing PLA's selfless sacrifice in all major disaster relieves to the
National guards/local police's behavior in New Orleans. It's like a contrast between heaven and hell.
