It really does not matter much because both Obama and Romney are for the US, not like other countries (in which, one party for the country, while the other party for foreign country).
The election in the US is an indirect election (the majority takes all the votes in that state, called electorial votes).
In california, the DEM almost won all presidential election all the time recently :-). That's why California is called a DEM state.
