You won't even get a chance into Olympic if you don't commit to a life time
of hard training.

Opportunity to compete in olympic is very fleeting. Even the most supreme
athletes get at most 2-3 chances. Only in those rare events where physical
conditioning doesn't matter could someone consistently get into olympics.
For a lot of athletes, one crack at olympic gold is all the chance they are
going to get.
