There are still a long way to go to reach the number limit.

实际上远远没有到极限。以一个普通家庭为例估算：
1935年（实行SSN第一年）有一家四口，以后每20年多出来一个，80岁的时候死掉，
那么现在的总人口10人（对应3亿）去世2人（废掉600万）。
另外现在SSN取消了分区（前3位），取消了校验码（中间2位），
开放了以前不用的几个区段。政府认为在可以预见的将来都足够了。

Q20: Are Social Security numbers reused after a person dies?
A: No. We do not reassign a Social Security number (SSN) after the number
holder's death. Even though we have issued over 453 million SSNs so far, and
we assign about 5 and one-half million new numbers a year, the current
numbering system will provide us with enough new numbers for several
generations into the future with no changes in the numbering system.
