on the Sunday the jet crashed into the Java Sea, Indonesia officials say
The airline had permission to fly the route daily before October, but in the
same month the ministry issued a permit for the airline to fly the route on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday during the winter season, the
Wall Street Journal reports.
“So AirAsia has committed a violation of the route that has been given to
them,” transport ministry spokesman J.A. Barata told the journal. He said
the company’s flights from Surabaya had consequently been suspended on
Friday.
