ASIAN GUY而已。
对华人有用的,还是要参与政治。
早期的两个人: 鄺友良和陈香梅:
鄺友良entered elected political life as a member of the Hawaii Territorial
House of Representatives where he became Speaker of the House from 1948 to
1954. During this time, he was one of the front most leaders in the fight to
make Hawaii a state.Upon achieving statehood through the Admission Act of
1959, Hawaii returned Fong to elected office becoming one of its first
United States Senators. Fong sought civil rights legislation in the Senate
and supported both the Vietnam War and President Nixon during the Watergate
scandal. He twice ran favorite son campaigns for the Republican presidential
nomination, in 1964 and 1968.[6] In 1964, he became the first Asian
American to receive votes for president at a major party convention,
receiving the votes of the Hawaii and Alaska delegations. Fong was the first
Hawaii-born individual to run for President of the United States.
陈香梅 received presidential appointments from U.S. President Richard Nixon
to the President's Advisory Committee for the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts and the U.S. National Committee for UNESCO (from 1970). She
was president of Chinese Refugee Relief from 1962 to 1970 and has served as
president of the General Claire Chennault Foundation after 1960.[4]
She served as a national committeewoman for the District of Columbia of the
Republican Party (since 1960) and led the National Republican Asian Assembly
. She has assisted many Chinese Americans to become active in politics and
in 1973 helped found the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA).[5]
