almost 3 percent) at $81.75 in Tuesday's session, as more bad news has sent
the issue to new all-time lows. The catalyst is a Wall Street Journal
article stating that some orders may be fake. This comes after other
questions being raised about the validity of Alibaba's reporting of actual
sales.

The issue has been under constant pressure since its disappointing earnings
report on January 28. After cascading from its January 28 close ($98.45) to
$89.81 the following day, it has been unable to mount any kind of a
sustained rally.
Although the report was revealed Monday evening, shares did not begin to
move lower until 8:15 a.m. ET when pre-market traders began to digest the
news. After taking out Monday's low before the open and a brief pop to $83.
25, it continued through its former all-time low made on October 15, 2014 ($
82.81), reaching $81.42 so far in today's session. |
