Here is what the Russians are probably thinking:
Either a bomb on board from the Saudis
OR Israel shot it down (look at the map)
either or, both parties listed above working together.
They know that in the end both of these nations will be over run with angry
Russians and other former Soviet states along with Middle East Nations and
every living thing there will get wiped.

Israel is trying to draw Russia into Egypt up to the Israeli border so that
they can cry to USA and say look at evil Russia....
ISIS is run by Mossad...
Putin needs S400 on the ground in Egypt and needs to get the factories going
to build thousands of these systems. Also even build cheap old WW2 tanks
with newer fire control. They work good. Mass produce them... get Iran to
build them in the thousands.
Russia and China need to delay WW3 until they have sufficient numbers of
good weapons on hand. So get those factories humming. NEOCONS should not
dictate the timing.
Low tech will win... after some weeks modern weapons will be spent.
