Terror groups, likely including Al Qaeda, repeatedly gave San Bernardino
gunwoman Tashfeen Malik the cold shoulder in the months leading up to the
Dec. 2 attack on a California social services center that left 14 people
dead.
Malik, who immigrated to the U.S. from Pakistan in 2014 on a fiancée visa,
tried in vain to create relationships with a number of organizations, likely
including Al Qaeda's Syria-based official affiliate, the Nusrah Front, a
government source told Reuters.
The discovery indicates that Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, may
have been capable of more terror had they successfully connected with the
Islamic militant groups.
The militants Malik, 29, tried to contact may have turned her down due to
fears that she was actually working with law enforcement, Reuters’ sources
said.
