recieved the RK on 11.01.1945 while being a Kradmelder in the Stab Pz.Gren.
Rgt. 98 of the 8. Panzer-Division.
Kurt Schwarm knocked out three Soviet tanks by himself with the Panzerfaust
during one messenger ride with his motorcycle, hence the three
Panzervernichtungsabzeichen on his right uniform sleeve. Note the
Panzerfaust lying the sidecar of the motorcycle in the photograph. Schwarm
is also wearing a Nahkampfspange. Being gratulated by comrades on his
Ritterkreuz, this only shows that there were hardly any position at all that
was "safer" than others. The Meldegänger must have risked their lives
countless of times at the frontlines and just behind them delivering their
