show: "Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship
Enterprise.
Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life
and new civilisations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.”
Essentially a western in space, created by Gene Roddenberry, the show and
its crew didn’t get to complete the five-year mission. It was canceled
after three.
But it launched an animated series, four spin-off series and soon a fifth to
premiere in January, as well as a number of films, including a 2009 reboot,
which grossed $386m and led to two sequels.
Its impact is still being felt, and not just in Hollywood. | c******a
