The number of newborn companies in the U.S. is declining, according to
Quartz. A new report from the Brookings Institution found that the
proportion of U.S. companies less than two years old declined from 13% in
1985 to 8% in 2014. While the report can’t say why these economic engines
are disappearing, the report says market concentration and a lack of
interest in entrepreneurship may be to blame.
