an explosion in foreign goods flooding China. There is a reason why foreign
goods can't compete in the Chinese domestic market.
One is price and the other is nationalism. Where 20 years ago rich Chinese
wanted foreign brands, they now want Chinese brands. The realization that
foreign brands were just a Chinese made product with a label killed any want
for the label.
The Chinese want Chinese designed and manufactured product and have been
preferring it to American brands. Why buy an iPhone when you can buy a
Huawei that is far superior is just about every metric?
Let's say the Chinese want to buy the helmets my company makes and I decide
to start manufacturing them again in America. The last injection molder that
had the machines I need anywhere close to my company closed in 2005. The
only saving grace is that I can buy used 500 ton machines all over the place
, but when something goes wrong it is incredibly hard to find someone in the
USA that can fix them. I would need to buy or rent a large manufacturing
warehouse, good thing there are a lot of them available.
OH ****, THEY DON'T MEET UPDATED CODES AND REGULATIONS!!!!!!
Spend millions of dollars to update the building.
OH ****, THE HYDRAULIC FLUID AND OTHER NECESSARY MANUFACTURING MATERIALS DON

OH, I THOUGHT I COULD PAINT THE HELMETS. **** NO!!!!!! I'M FINED A FEW
HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS BECAUSE THERE IS A WETLAND NEARBY AND MY PAINT
BOOTH MIGHT KILL A SALAMANDER!!!!!!!
Switch to different paints and add all kinds of environmental scrubbers.
OOPS, THE NEW PAINT ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH ABS AND THE PRODUCT DOESN'T PASS
SAFETY TESTS!!!!
Get a paint supplier to create new formulations for me for a huge increase
in cost.
Fail my audits because of a door that was put in the building in 1955.
After all of that, finally start making helmets. My manufactured cost all in
is $18 per unit.
Buying it from China and having it shipped here $8 unit.
BUT THE CHINESE WILL BUY MY PRODUCT. YEAH, OF COURSE THEY WILL.
