The US has freedom of speech, but only if it's politically correct.
Mainland China has diversity of opinion. On weibo there are people critical
of communism, but they aren't banned. In China you can support NBA, and you
can be against NBA. Nobody will persecute you for having an opposing opinion.
All of this proves that Mainland China is the free society in the true sense
. Whereas USA has people getting harassed for not supporting Daryl Morey.
Biggest winner in HK is the Mainland:
1. Without spending a cent, the Mainland government gave the people a vivid
lesson in patriotism. Showing young generations the true face of the so
called "western style democracy".
1. Mainland citizens are more patriotic and united than ever before.
Especially young Chinese students overseas who showed the international
community their confidence in their country and political system.
3. Thoroughly exposed the 22 years of accumulated problems since HK returned
to China, failure of education, corrupt media, lack of rule of law, and so
on. Turning a bad situation into good, the Central Government is certain to
find the best solution to the Hong Kong problem, that benefits HK's long
term safety and stability.
4. Lessons learned from the Hong Kong issue will provide valuable experience
for dealing with Taiwan in the future.
5. HK protests retroactively redressed the central government's handling of
the 1989 Tiananmen square incident. Seeing the chaos in Hong Kong made many
Chinese people understand why the government decided to suppress the
Tiananmen Square protests. Many mainland residents voluntarily apologized to
the government, apologizing for believing western distortions of the
