The movement has undone itself through its pursuit of unrestrained liberty.

Am interesting thing to note:
I see you used the pandemic to show how the issues it presents only
accelerated issues we were invoking by choice. But I would argue that the
response to the pandemic that created the acceleration. It was an
acceleration by choice.
And no not in a "we didn't need to lockdown" way. In fact I argue that this
very attitude is part of the problem the article brings up.
We had early warning about this virus in January. We had research done on
situations just like this 6 months prior with warnings about this exact
result (compete with civil disorder. So in a way they predicted the BLM
protests).
We chose not to be responsible. We chose to fool ourselves into thinking we
were free to ignore it. A child wishing for the freedom to play in the
kitchen over the responsibility of keeping themselves safe from fire.
And like the child whining and moaning about not being able to play with a
burned up arm, we moan about the deterioration of our economy and society
caused by a virus we decided to ignore. The choice of freedom making us less
free.
Worse, when we stopped crying about the pain of the burn and was told to
stay still to let the arm heal we rebelled. We want to be free. To play
again like we did before. The arm is fine really. So we chose freedom again
over responsibility. And now we break the arm more. The schools are closed
again. The freezers of dead bodies are back. The closed stores are back. All
because we want freedom NOW.
So the acceleration, just like the initial decay, was by choice. Because we
wanted to do whatever we wanted. |

the expense of everyone else.
EDIT: and Empire. It was not enough that we had to make our own people's
lives miserable. We also had to do it to other people.

b*********4 发帖数: 1 | 5 It's hard to tell if America is even governable anymore. If the "I don't
want to, you can't make me" attitude means we can't get people to do the
bare minimum and wear masks to reduce the spread of a deadly virus, it's a
pretty sure sign our society is doomed. All liberty, no responsibility.
Every man for himself. That's not a society. |
