the media borders to help build fifth columnists that naively believe they'
re doing gods work by helping western imperialists take down their own

The 50s was really a “good old time” for China and many seem to have
forgotten. For the first time in decades China was finally under a unified
stable regime. Not only were debts and hyperinflation under the KMT wipes
out, initial Soviet economic reforms and industrialization was also wildly
successful. Food was plenty. Education was free. Millions who would
otherwise be denied any chance of social mobility under the old system (like
my grandma) went to universities. There was still a degree of intellectual
freedom (the anti-Rightist campaign came at the end of the 50s). And of
course, China had the full backing of the USSR.
While propaganda certainly played a part, the undeniable reality of the
1950s was what made the masses really wholehearted believe in communism and
Mao. Of course, just like all the good old times, it didn’t last for long. |

war(WWII), 4 years civil war. Although they lack of heavy weapons, they
still have a tactical training. That is why they can defeat US army in
Korean War. |

that the PLA got there. That already met the strategic goals. The fact the
PLA suffered only 3:1 casualties was a huge cherry on top, as it also
accomplished the tactical goals too.
And there's more. It wasn't anybody that the PLA beat. It was the US. Yes,
the same US that kicked the Japanese so hard they were forced to surrender.
The same US that even Stalin had to give pause to.
If you can't see that as a victory, then I seriously suggest you go hit your
books. You really need to learn your history. |
