Some 192 pediatric deaths associated with influenza were reported during the
2019-2020 flu season, according to the latest data from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.
It was the highest number of influenza-associated deaths in children in a
regular flu season since the CDC began reporting such deaths during the 2004
-2005 flu season. The second highest was during the the 2017-2018 flu season
of high severity with 188 deaths.
