k**********4 发帖数: 16092 | 1 So tomorrow I go to an arraignment to forgive the young man who ran a red
light in the accident that killed my father.
The young father made a mistake. We did not want him prosecuted, he was not
impaired, has no priors, was not driving distracted. He simply thought the
left turn light turned green when the through light did. It was a mistake, a
mistake anyone could make.
I truly believe that showing him forgiveness and mercy is the truest
representation of who my father was, not punishment, fines and even jail
time.
I have no experience with these things so maybe someone can give me advise.
If he pleads guilty do I get to give my victim impact statement prior to his
sentencing? Can I address the judge to plead on the young man’s behalf?
Both the prosecutor and the victim advocate failed to return my call so they
have no idea how I feel about their pursuit of legal action against the
young man.
Please no negative stuff or name calling, this is a sensitive time and I
need support not anger.
Any defense attorneys out there that can advise on what to expect?
