Say your Chinese name is 雷锋。People can make fun of both Lei and Feng in
some language, English included. Actually you don't need to go into another
language. People can make fun of the pronunciations of your name in some
other Chinese dialect.
Yes, I have a typical English first name, and my last name is in Cantonese.
I didn't want to waste my time to tell people how to say my name when I
first met them, and they were not able to remember it anyway. So I changed
my first name when I was naturalized.
Actually when you write your name as Feng Lei, instead of 雷锋, you are
already prostrating to English speakers. It's not much different from
changing it to Jimmy. It's just a difference between 50 steps and 100 steps.

后来出了港府拼音，才规范化。周 现在都明确地拼成chau
